Photo Exhibition

From the beginning of time, humans have played the role of God creating unnatural man-made creations that have been considered practical in some cases and gruesome in other senses. My compositions focus on this specific nature of humans involving a fabricated future where people are merged with objects. I plan on exploring a possible future where people have gone overboard reaching to a point of no return using photography, photoshop, and research pertaining to items using the human body. If possible, I would like my audience to acknowledge that these cool, innovative advancements are unnecessary and abnormal. Sometimes, things that remain good do not need to get any better.

Growing up, my idea of the possible technological advancements are based on sci-fi movies and books such as Frankenstein heavily influenced me. I thought some of these ideas were interesting even creative but something that would never happen. As I saw some of these ideas in movies and books about advancements started to happen in real life, I thought it would be interesting to portray it in my work. For inspiration, I looked at Valerie Belin’s and Daniel Lee’s work. Both artists focused on layering photos for their composites and used the technique called superimposition. I decided to use the same technique they did, but in photoshop, the technique is called Double Exposure.

The names of the photos are: Scissor Feet, Tripod Arms, and Weighted Feet.
