Process behind rebranding

About The Project

REBRANDING JUST EGG

One of my favorite vegan products is called Just Egg. My goal is to explore how many different packaging styles I could create—ranging from designs tailored to individual consumers to bulk packaging intended for companies and restaurants.

Rebrand Purpose

For this project, I selected Just Egg as my brand to redesign. My rebrand focuses on improving usability and longevity while giving the product a more playful and approachable identity. The goal is to create packaging that:

  • Supports multiple serving sizes and extends shelf life

  • Feels fun, friendly, and less corporate

  • Encourages customers to explore Just Egg’s website and brand story

  • Offers versatile formats — from restaurant-style bulk options to convenient single-serve packages

Overall, the rebrand aims to make Just Egg more engaging, functional, and memorable in both household and commercial settings.

Research

Facts

  • Color Pallette: Yellow, Black, and White

  • Typography: Font used is Neue Haas Grotesk which is great for commercialized products.

  • Purpose: Great for vegans, vegetarians trying to get protein and even for restaurants selling vegan products.

  • Made in California

  • It’s a vegan egg replacement made from mung beans. It’s has similar amount of protein compared to eggs and the coloring comes from turmeric. Just Egg and regular eggs have a 1:1 ratio for cooking.

Thought Process

Brand Personality and ideation

Just Egg” is already a playful, bold name. Pairing it with a typeface that has character (quirkiness, drips, psychedelic flow, elegance, etc.) makes the text feel less generic and more aligned with a brand personality.

For example:

  • In a playful, drippy font, it feels like a fun food product.

  • In a luxury serif, it suddenly feels premium or gourmet

Testing Adaptability

By putting the same phrase “Just Egg” across multiple styles, you can instantly see:

  • Does the typeface add energy or seriousness?

  • Does it still feel legible and balanced?

  • Does the font choice align with food/organic/natural vibes, or clash with them?

Audience Resonance

Typography isn’t just about letters — it conveys tone. A characterful font shows how “Just Egg” might appear in packaging, ads, or social media. A quirky font might resonate with a younger audience, while a sleek serif might appeal to a more high-end, health-conscious audience.

Visual Memorability

“Just Egg” on its own is short and simple. A characterful typeface makes it more memorable — otherwise, it risks blending in with every other sans-serif logo.

CONCEPT SKETCHES

Just Egg Package Design Ideation and Rought Draft Sketches:

This is the second time I am redesigning for Just Egg. The image of the bottle design is my first design. When I decided to redesign it, I realized a pump bottle might be unnecessary work. Instead, I decided to use a simple egg carton design to carry individual serving sizes which can be used for 1:1 Just Egg to egg ratio for baking and cooking. The individually wrapped egg would use the same type wax wrapper as Babybel cheese- which is made of cellulose from certified forests and environmentally friendly.
